According to legend, Bappa Rawal received blessings from Eklingji (a form of Lord Shiva) before his successful campaign against the invaders. Since then, the kings of Mewar have considered themselves divine representatives of Eklingji on Earth. Even today, the rulers of Mewar, who claim to be Bappa’s descendants, continue to worship at this temple as a sign of their devotion and connection to their warrior heritage.
